Editing Services That Honor Your Voice
Finding the just-right kind of care for where your work is now.
Every story needs a different kind of care, which is why I offer a range of editorial services — from developmental and line editing to copyediting, and authenticity reading. No matter the service, your voice is something I’ll hone with a human touch while protecting, and never overwriting.
You don’t need to know exactly what your manuscript needs before reaching out; feeling unsure or intimidated by that choice is completely normal. A discovery call allows us to look at your work together and identify the just-right path forward, based on where your story is now and where you want it to go.
Pricing is always tailored to the scope of the project and remains within the standard industry range of 3–7 cents per word. Quotes are transparent, clear, and designed to feel manageable — so you can move forward with an ignited confidence.
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
Big-picture guidance for stories that feel close, but not quite finished, or even for very raw stories looking for a structure. Helping structure, focus, and intent come fully into view.
COPYEDITING
A final polish for completed manuscripts, focused on accuracy, consistency, and readiness for publication.
LINE EDITING
Sentence-level refinement that sharpens clarity, flow, and consistency while protecting your voice.
BETA / AUTHENTICITY READING
Reader-centered feedback on how your story lands — without reshaping or redirecting the work.
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
Developmental editing looks at your manuscript as a whole — its structure, pacing, clarity, continuity, and emotional impact. This is for any writer who would benefit from a deeper dive look at their manuscript. Whether you’re mid-draft or working with a completed manuscript, this process helps identify what the story needs in order to become cohesive and intentional. You’ll receive a detailed editorial letter and in-manuscript comments that offer clear direction without overwhelming the work, helping your story move forward with focus and confidence.
This is ideal for you if…
YOU KNOW THE STORY YOU WANT TO TELL, BUT YOU NEED SUPPORT TO GET IT THERE.
This service provides clear, big-picture direction that helps you prioritize what matters most and move forward with confidence.
YOUR STORY FEELS POWERFUL, BUT SOMETHING ISN’T LANDING.
Developmental editing identifies where structure, pacing, or clarity is breaking down so the story can work as a whole.
LINE EDITING
Line editing is for manuscripts that are structurally strong but need careful attention at the sentence level. This service refines language, sharpens clarity, and smooths flow while protecting your voice and intent. Tone, point of view, and story logic are closely considered so the prose feels consistent and fully realized. A style sheet is included to support continuity and guide future edits, helping your work move closer to its final form without losing what makes it yours.
This is ideal for you if…
YOU'RE WORRIED THAT EDITING MIGHT FLATTEN OR CHANGE YOUR VOICE.
This service strengthens what’s already there, honing your voice without overwriting it.
YOUR MANUSCRIPT IS SOLID, BUT THE WRITING DOESN’T YET FEEL FULLY ALIVE ON THE PAGE.
Line editing refines language and rhythm so the prose feels intentional, polished, and immersive.
COPYEDITING
Copyediting prepares a completed manuscript for publication. This service focuses on grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and consistency, along with flagging areas that may require fact-checking or legal review. The goal is not to reshape the work, but to ensure accuracy, clarity, and polish. A style sheet is provided to maintain consistency throughout the manuscript, so the writing feels clean, professional, and ready to be shared.
This is ideal for you if…
YOU’RE CONFIDENT IN THE STORY, BUT WORRIED ABOUT TECHNICAL ERRORS SLIPPING THROUGH.
Copyediting ensures grammar, punctuation, and usage are clean and consistent throughout.
YOU’RE PREPARING TO SUBMIT OR PUBLISH AND WANT A POLISHED MANUSCRIPT.
This service brings accuracy, clarity, and cohesion to the details, so nothing distracts from the work itself.
BETA / AUTHENTICITY READING
Authenticity reading offers a reader-centered perspective on a completed manuscript. This service focuses on how the story lands — highlighting areas of confusion, inconsistency, pacing issues, or moments where the emotional impact falters. Feedback is holistic rather than prescriptive, helping you understand how your work is being received without pushing it in a new direction. With experience across a range of genres and a background in law, this service can also address realism, logic, and legal elements where relevant.
This is ideal for you if…
YOU ARE WRITING A STORY THAT INVOLVES LEGAL ISSUES.
If your mystery, thriller, or other story that involves characters who interact with the law, this service will help make sure that your story will feel authentic to your readers — even if they are lawyers.
YOU WANT HONEST AND TRANSPARENT FEEDBACK ON THE WRITTEN DYNAMICS IN YOUR MANUSCRIPT.
This service reflects the reading experience back to you, helping you decide what — if anything — needs attention.
Just-Right editing protects the heart of a story while giving it room to grow
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE STUCK IN THE IN-BETWEEN TO BECOME THE WRITER YOU KNOW YOU ARE
The stagnation you might be experiencing is what happens when a writer carries the full weight of a story alone for too long — holding both its emotional truth and its craft without the distance needed to see clearly. When that happens, momentum stalls, confidence erodes, and the work begins to feel heavier than it should. Writing isn’t meant to feel like a private test you’re failing in isolation, and editing isn’t meant to be something you brace yourself for.
A discovery call is a chance to step out of that in-between. You don’t need to know exactly what your manuscript needs or have the right language for what isn’t working. Together, we can look at where your story is now, what’s been weighing on you, and what kind of support would help it move forward. It’s not a commitment to change everything — it’s a grounded first step toward clarity, momentum, and the writer you’re becoming.
My Process is Designed to Meet You Where You Are
1
First, we start things off by getting aligned on where your manuscript stands and what ambitions you have. You’ll receive an initial assessment, and we’ll come to an agreement on the project’s overall direction and outcomes.
2
Once your manuscript is safely in my hands, I ask that you ignore it and go off for a while to go live your life. While you’re away and getting new inspiration from life, I’ll carefully go through your work.
3
When I’m finished, I’ll hand over your edited manuscript covered up in delicious markups and insightful notes, transforming your writing into a story that finally feels like it’s getting closer to sitting in a reader’s hands.

“Working solo on my projects, stories like the one I worked on with Tera might take me eight or ten iterations to figure out the full story. But with Tera’s editorial work, I feel more confident writing the second draft now that she’s helped give me a clear sight on how to finalize it.”
