Tera Schreiber is a writer and editor who has published stories across multiple genres with damsels who save themselves and serve satisfying just desserts. She writes for readers who seek transformative narratives and inspires marginalized people to change the world.
Her recent short story, Seen and Not Heard, is a future dystopia in which women’s voices are literally silenced. Published in B Cube’s Alternative Liberties, “an anthology of political cautionary tales about what it would be like to live in America under a fascist dictatorship.”
Her short story, Awake, won first place in the Write on the Sound 2025 fiction contest. She was first published in 2024 for her modern, feminist retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, The Hunt, under Amaranth’s anthology, The Veneficium Feminae.
She holds two certifications from the University of Washington’s Professional & Continuing Education Program, one in Creative Writing (2024) and one in Editing (2025). In addition, she holds a specialization in Developmental Editing, also from the University of Washington.
Tera self-published her first book, entitled Sammy the Forgetful Squirrel, when she was in the fourth grade. She was both author and illustrator, and only one copy was made. It earned her a ticket to the Young Authors Conference, which became the first time she realized that writing could be a career. It took a long detour in the legal industry, the nonprofit world, and parenting three grown daughters to return to the craft. Now, her writing is published regularly. With a little help in getting things just right, yours can be, too.
